Alexandra and David's November wedding took them to 3 of Glasgow's most iconic locations, with a beautiful marriage ceremony conducted at the University Chapel, a stop off at the Botanic Gardens for portraits and a reception at the magnificent and quirky converted church that is Oran Mor. They were such a laid-back couple, and their day was a perfect mix of elegance and fun. The bride got ready with her bridesmaids and parents who had flown over from Ireland, in an Airbnb apartment (such a good idea - so much more spacious than a hotel, with plenty of room for everyone to hang out!) and her glam squad including Charlie Campbell MUA styled the ladies to perfection.
Alex had both her parents walk her up the aisle inside Glasgow University Chapel, where David was waiting and the choir raised the roof with their beautiful singing - a graceful and classic start to the ceremony. Afterwards the couple had organised coach transportation for all their guests so while they headed to Oran Mor, we stole some moments in the cloisters so that they could enjoy some quiet moments together to soak in all their happiness.
The wedding cars took us to Glasgow's Botanic Gardens next, just metres away from Oran Mor, for family photographs. The stunning glasshouse dome gave shelter from the drizzle and the lush greenery inside really set off the bridal party's outfits. Then we crossed over the road to Oran Mor where a pianist was playing during the cocktail hour before dinner. This was my first visit and I was blown away by the incredible painted murals on the walls and ceilings. If you're looking for a unique and atmospheric venue, and you like colourful decor and cool low lighting this is one to check out!
The table favours were personalised cupcakes decorated with the name of each guest, as well as badges showing a donation to Macmillan Cancer Support charity had been made. In the evening the ceilidh band got everyone up on the dancefloor for their favourite reels, as well as some hilarious men vs women challenges and it was wonderful to see Alex and David having such a fantastic end to their wedding day.
