There’s something incredibly special about getting married at home, and this family farm wedding in Scotland was a perfect reflection of a couple who wanted their day to feel easy, joyful, and completely personal. Surrounded by open fields and celebrating in a laughter-filled marquee, it was a day focused on connection rather than schedules—relaxed, colourful, and full of real moments.

Becca and Harry wanted their photographs to feel genuine and full of life, with nothing staged. That fits perfectly with my approach: helping couples relax in front of the camera and capturing the story naturally as it unfolds. With no posing and no pressure, my photography simply documented the day, from quiet chats to full-on fun. If you’re planning a farm or garden party wedding in Scotland, this is what natural, relaxed wedding photography can look like: honest, vibrant, and centred on the people you love.

The bride spent the morning getting ready surrounded by her closest family, with plenty of laughter, excitement, and a few happy tears along the way. It was a relaxed, joyful start to the day, filled with special moments and gentle anticipation. Having the people she loves most by her side made the preparations feel even more meaningful.

The couple chose to hold their ceremony at the historic Yester, Bolton and Saltoun Parish Church, a beautiful building that stands on a site that has been a place of worship for centuries. It was a warm, heartfelt ceremony filled with character and tradition. Afterwards everyone gathered outside for a joyful shower of confetti before the newlyweds made a getaway together in their much-loved Land Rover.

The couple made sure to include their lovely spaniel in some of their portraits around the estate, which added such a fun and joyful touch to the photos. Having your dog by your side on the day always brings out natural smiles and relaxed moments that can’t be recreated. Pets are such an important part of the family, and they’re always more than welcome to be part of your wedding photographs.

The couple had their group shots taken out in the fields beside the marquee, a perfect open backdrop that suited the relaxed feel of the day. Afterwards we slipped away into the nearby woodland for a quiet stroll and some natural portraits of just the two of them. Back at the marquee, guests enjoyed lively and poignant speeches before the meal and I loved capturing their emotional expressions and reactions. As evening approached we headed out again for more couple’s portraits in the soft golden hour light, before returning inside for a fun night of dancing to live music.

If you’re planning a relaxed farm wedding or a laid-back garden party celebration and want photographs that feel just as easygoing as your day, I’d love to hear from you. My approach is all about capturing real moments—natural smiles, happy tears, big hugs, and all the little details that make your wedding uniquely yours. If you’re looking for a photographer who blends in, keeps things simple, and creates warm, authentic images you’ll treasure for years, get in touch and let’s chat about your plans.
