Maya and Tim celebrated their wedding at the stunning Deer Park Country House in Devon in September. This enchanting stately home with an orangery, Italian garden and manicured lawns provided the perfect backdrop for an elegant yet relaxed day.
Morning preparations for the girls began over in the cottage beside the house, where they were pampered with hair and makeup by Changing Faces. Maya's bridesmaids were attentive to her every need and were so excited to see her in her gorgeous, chic wedding dress for the first time. The boys were in great spirits too and got ready in a lodge beside the walled garden. It's easy for me to go between nearby locations to capture shots of both parties getting ready and I think it's lovely for the couple to be able to look back on what each other were up to and little moments they wouldn't have seen on the day!
The bride and groom radiated happiness as they exchanged their vows in a small village church surrounded by family and friends, creating unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime. The ceremony took place at St Swithun's church in Woodbury, which was very sentimental to Maya and her family. Exquisite florals from Devonshire Rose Floral Design brought a pop of colour, with pink and cream roses as well as delicate blue forget-me-nots. One of my favourite things was that the couple's dainty dog Mavis came down the aisle along with the bridesmaids as a guest of honour!
After the ceremony, we made our way to Deer Park Country House, where Maya and Tim arrived in a vintage cream Rolls Royce. The stunning grounds and sprawling driveway made a perfect backdrop for some timeless portraits of the couple.
Next was some time for drinks and mingling with their guests - I always recommend to factor in at least 30 minutes for this, ideally straight after the ceremony, as everyone will want to congratulate the newlyweds. Then we can move into group photographs, perhaps a mix of traditional formal and relaxed shots like these. A hilarious moment ensued when Maya and Tim discovered they had accidentally ordered coloured flares instead of smoke grenades for their bridal party - brilliant chaos! Fortunately we had some confetti cannons too which worked perfectly!
The orangery is a beautiful bright space, and was decorated for dinner with fresh floral centrepieces as well as taper candles and photos of Maya and Tim. While the guests were finding their tables, I took the couple outside to pop a bottle of champagne for a few extra fun moments!
The speeches before dinner were absolutely brilliant and entertaining, setting the stage for an incredibly fun night! Once the band was ready, Maya tossed her bouquet, and then the couple shared their enchanting first dance, inviting all their guests up to join the lively dance floor. Always seizing a fashion moment, Maya later surprised everyone, especially the groom, by changing into a fabulous second, shorter dress!
